First comes disbelief, then outrage, then... healthy swaps!!!
True story. When you start reading the ingredient list of the products that you bring into your home AND USE ON YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILDREN you quickly come to the sobering realization that not everything sold on the supermarket and pharmacy shelves is safe. When you learn that the ingredients in conventional personal care products and household cleaning products are carcinogenic, neurotoxic, endocrine disrupting, allergic and/or wipeout beneficial bacteria, you can’t bring yourself to use them again.
Let’s take artificial fragrances. These are endocrine disrupters-they mess up your hormones. Hello, growing children, children going through puberty and peri-menopausal women! Many doctors are calling artificial fragrances the new smoking because of their harmful effects on the human body. Sadly as my health coaching client realised, artificial fragrances are not JUST found in perfumes, colognes and aftershaves. They are found in pretty much everything including stuff you’d never think of like makeup, dishwashing liquid, soaps, candles, body washes, shampoo, conditioner, laundry soap, hair styling agents and face/body moisturisers to name a few. And also in A LOT of so-called “natural” products. Hello greenwashing!
